So many United fans I’ve chatted to love the Mbeumo signing especially and I really don’t get it. I remember Carl Anka saying on a podcast that Dorgu is the type of signing that INEOS want to make. Begging that Cunha and Mbeumo are the exceptions and not the norm

I think at this point there’s a high chance he does play up top. I don’t like Bruno had a central midfielder so one of Cunha/Mbeumo could play striker in specific games

I think one of Mbeumo/Cunha makes sense. United are SO bad at attack that signing a proven, above average attacker with both creation and finishing skills at peak age is fine. They paid market rate (maybe even a touch above), but neither player is likely to be bad. The issue is signing both of sending Garnacho away. Sign one and then be flexible about next steps.

I do think there's a better than anticipated chance Cunha plays up top. He's not a traditional striker, but if you look at his Wolves profile two years ago you will see a much more traditional 9. His avg shot distance was 18m which is pretty close to a typical late career Harry Kane avg. I think he could fill that role if needed although it's not optimal.

The real issue is Mbeumo. As Grace pointed out, Mbeumo and Amad like the same positions on the pitch. Why in the world would you spend so much to block your most promising young talent? Makes no sense at all.
