Great article, but I think I'd put in Mount over Bowen. Firstly, just aesthetically Bowen isn't a left winger, and Mount means you could shift Son left, put Mount in midfield, and in true 2022 fashion have De Bruyne as a false 9. More importantly, I think he's had just an incredible season. While they have very similar scoring and assisting stats, both per 90 and for the season, Mount weds that offensive output with much greater involvement elsewhere. Mount is playing twice as many passes per 90, and taking almost twice as many touches per 90. He has 1.5x Bowen's shot creating actions per 90, and 25% more pressures per 90. While Bowen has definitely had a very good season for a goalscoring winger, Mount has the output of a goalscoring winger with the progression and defensive responsibilities of a midfielder. He's been truly exceptional, and Chelsea rely on him so much to make the attack function properly.
Absolutely agree. Was more of a comment on no one being close to TAA at that position in the world. It's crazy to have two RBs that good and that young from same country. Anway great article!
I love TAA but I think Reece James is absolutely nearly on par with him from an attacking perspective. James progressive passes and carries were 13.34 per 90. TAA's were 13.68. James has more open play SCA90 than TAA (3.43 vs. 3.09) . Trent had 3 more assists but just one more from open play (in over 50% more game time). Given injuries I would have put TAA on team of the season too but I think Reece James is absolutely on his tails when it comes to quality at that position. James has only done it one season of course so we need to see consistency. But if he continues at this pace he may surpass TAA altogether.
And neither one is likely starting for England next November :)
While I love you putting in two of our players, I also agree a bit with Tyson below about Bowen maybeee not deserving to be in. The main reason for that is that he only played CF or RW for us (and was lots better at RW), so just don't quite think he deserves to be in as LW and he obviously doesn't deserve to be in over Salah. Sadly that probably just means Mane comes in, which is a bit boring

He's great, he just played barely over half the available minutes and I don't think that's really enough to put him in the team.
