What's up with Mohamed Salah?
Lots of goals the first half of the season, not so many in the second. What gives?
Sometimes people don’t like to accept that footballers have natural fluctuations in form.
Just a few months ago, it was accepted as fact that Mohamed Salah was playing the best football of his career. He was flying high, dominating every opponent he faced and winning plaudits from just about everyone. This all happened against the backdrop of his contract negotiations, for which all could see that Liverpool just had to pay him whatever he wanted.
Now he’s scored two non-penalty goals in his last 20 games, and Football Twitter is playing its favourite game of calling a highly respected player or manager a fraud.
So what’s happened? Has something really, truly changed in his game? Was it always a blip and he’s coming down to earth? Let’s take a closer look.
