This is very interesting, especially when focusing on England and talent development. Kit Holden wrote something along similar lines about Germany for the Athletic. Despite the classic 9s dominating the scoring charts in the Bundesliga, they are mostly non-Germans, with the country also undergoing a technical emphasis reboot of their academies a little bit earlier than England. The 2. Bundesliga has a clearer need for in the box strikers, but it is interesting to think about how lower leagues may institute these ideas and how goal scoring players will develop from other sources.

Yeah I think this is a really apt comparison. England spent the last decade playing catch up to Germany in terms of youth development, finally got there and is seeing a similar issue. It should be masked for a few more years by Kane but when he retires, it wouldn't shock me if England have a striker problem.
