Most or the Premier League top scorers aren't classic nines. What's happening?
This is very interesting, especially when focusing on England and talent development. Kit Holden wrote something along similar lines about Germany for the Athletic. Despite the classic 9s dominating the scoring charts in the Bundesliga, they are mostly non-Germans, with the country also undergoing a technical emphasis reboot of their academies a little bit earlier than England. The 2. Bundesliga has a clearer need for in the box strikers, but it is interesting to think about how lower leagues may institute these ideas and how goal scoring players will develop from other sources.
